Find out about Mike’s professional approach to Top Notch inspections.
One of Mike’s passions is historic home preservation. He trained federal employees in traditional craftsman techniques as a lead instructor at the Western Center for Historic Preservation.
Mike also believes in giving back to his community through volunteer service. He served as a Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) team member for over 10 years, including as Logistics Section Chief and on the board of directors. TCSAR is a highly skilled, professional mountain rescue team located in the Teton mountain range that specializes in technical mountain rescue and recovery operations.
For over a decade, Mike served as a backcountry ranger and avalanche instructor at the U.S. Forest Service and as part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center. He educated the public and trained winter professionals across Wyoming and the Rocky Mountains.
Mike has helped keep the Mountain West safe by fighting wildland fires throughout the western states. He is a Type 2 wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and Helitack crews.
Mike is part of the Boise community
When Mike is away from basements, electrical boxes and chimneys, you can find him outdoors with his family. The Nelson crew is always up for trail running, hiking, fishing and rafting.
